ORFEO PIANELLI GIVES BACK THE SCUDETTO TO TORINO

On advice of Rocco, Torino buys the growing Genoa genius Gigi Meroni, great left wing. Just a year ago Nando Dalla Chiesa wrote a book about Meroni, "La Farfalla granata" ("Granata butterfly"). Gigi had a unique way of touching the ball, he really was like a butterfly, a butterfly that flied away too soon.Torino finishes 3rd with 44 p., three more than Juventus. Title is of Inter.

Rosato is sold to Milan and for Rocco it's the last season in granata.Torino finishes 7th with 38 p. Championship is won by Juventus with 49 p.
It will be the year in which Cereser enters definitively in the first team formation.
Granatas play the nicest game against Inter at S. Siro stadium where they win for 2-1 thanks to a wonderful goal of Meroni (the other one will be scored by Puja).
In Italian Cup they are sent off at third leg by Milan.

67/68 year
Left Rocco, Pianelli changes him with Edmondo Fabbri (Mondino, died some time ago), who left the national team after the defeat against Korea in England World Cup.Torino finishes 7th with 32 p. Championship is won by Milan with 46 p.
Anyway, Toro wins Italian Cup, finishing at 1st place in the final log, beating Milan, Inter and Bologna.

It will be the last season for Vieri at Toro.

Arrives Castellini, the goalkeeper less defeat os Serie B, but Toro has a not brilliant season: arrives 8th with 26 p. The scudetto is won by Inter with 46 p.Toro wins first derby for 2-1, thanks to a goal of Pulici.
Torino had also the field disqualified for three turns, due to the disagree of the supporters against the referee Concetto Lo Bello, who gave a penalty to Vicenza at the finishing of the match, at Turin. The referee was also pursued all the way to the airport.
Anyway Toro succeeds in winning the Italian Cup, after the dismission of Cadé who is changed with Cancian. Toro beats Milan 5-3 at penalties. Castellini kept two penalties of Rivera.

Discussions for an episode of Marassi, where the referee doesn't see a goal of Agroppi. Toro would draw the match and reach the run-off for scudetto against Juve.

Scudetto won again by Juve with 45 p.For balance they won both the derbies of the season: the first (2-1) with two goals of Pulici, who will win his first scorers-log with 17 goals (together with Savoldi and Rivera, but Puliciclone will win because of the better goals/played games ratio), the second for 2-0 with goals of Pulici on penalty and Agroppi.
Anyway the team always plays with proud and scowl, qualities that gets from Giagnoni, the coach dressing the astrakhan.
Unfortunately, it's also a season rich of injuries of the best players like Castellini, C. Sala, Bui, Cereser.
Also the goalkeeper Garella (who will win a championship with Verona years later) will play his first game in granata in the final eight minutes against Vicenza, away.
It's also the year in which the Antognoni affair fades. Torino's vicepresident, Bruno Cavallo, also president of Asti Macobi, team in which Antognoni played, doesn't sell him to Torino, but to Fiorentina, that offered more money for him,
